Educators & Mentors Roles 

 

For the Swiss Netball umpiring community to grow, we need committed umpires who can mentor and educate our up and coming umpires. Not only will this give you a different perspective on umpiring and help you improve your own game, it is also a fantastic opportunity to give back.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Umpire Tutor – C Award

Umpire Tutors need to have a pleasant and enthusiastic manner to build confidence in the learner umpires and create a successful learning environment. Swiss Netball Umpire Tutors will deliver our Introduction to Umpiring Award and Netball Europe C Award Umpire courses, the first steps in the pathway to becoming an umpire. It is essential therefore that you feel confident delivering to groups of people and have confidence to answer questions about the game.

Pre-requisites:

·      Individual Member of Swiss Netball

Qualifications:

·       Netball Europe B Umpiring Award or above

·       Actively Umpiring

Experience:

·       Able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding for the rules of netball and how and when to apply them

·       Excellent leadership skills covering key aspects such as communication, decision making, leading by example

Personal Qualities:

·       Approachable

·       Good clear communication skills

·       Good time management skills

·       Able to work as part of a team

·       Pro-active and able to adapt

 

Umpire Assessor – C Award

Umpire Assessors conduct practical assessments determining whether learner umpires meet the criteria and quality standards set to be awarded an umpire qualification. Umpire Assessors must have a strong depth of knowledge of the rules. They must be able to give positive constructive feedback and evaluate an umpire’s performance against competencies and criteria set out by Netball Europe.

Pre-requisites:

·      Individual Member of Swiss Netball

Qualifications:

·       Ideally a minimum of 2 year’s umpiring experience as a Netball Europe B Award umpire or above

 Experience:

·       Actively involved as an umpire or umpire mentor

·       Good knowledge of the rules of the game

Personal qualities:

·       Enthusiasm about and passion to contribute positively to umpire development 

·       Ability to evaluate performance related to competencies and criteria

·       Provide and communicate constructive feedback

·       Ability to collate information and report on assessment paperwork
